The Commission Process

Are you interested in commissioning a portrait of your pet or family member?

1. Get in touch

If you would like to commission a portrait of your own pet, or of a friend's or family member's pet as a gift, please contact me via my website, by email or phone. I will be happy to discuss what you would like and answer any queries you may have.

2. Send your photos

The next step is then to send me your photos- this can be by email, phone or by post. Once I have received your photos I will contact you to discuss the details, such as which pose you would like, and whether you would like a detailed or pastel background. If you would like more than one pet in your portrait we can discuss how you would like them to appear in the portrait in relation to each other. Any photos sent by post will be returned to you after your portrait has been completed.

3. Agree cost & estimated dates

If you would like to move ahead with your portrait I will require a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the portrait. This can be sent by cheque or bank transfer. Once received I will book you in to my commission diary, and give you an idea of when I will be ready to commence your portrait, and when it is likely to be completed by. If you have a specific date that you would like your portrait completed by, for example, if it is to be a birthday present, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate your request. I can usually honour the dates client's would like their portraits by (particularly if I am commissioned several months before the portrait is needed), but this may not always be possible as clients are booked in to my commission diary on a first come first served basis, unless exceptional circumstances dictate otherwise. In the event of me not being able to meet a particular date, I offer gift cards which I can send to the client, or if it is a gift for someone else, I can send it directly to the recipient. If the gift card is for the full amount of the portrait or the deposit amount then I can book a place in my commission diary for the portrait and can advise the client of the planned completion date of the portrait. Gift cards for any amount can be a lovely present, particularly if you know someone is saving for a portrait or to buy an item in my Etsy shop. Or you could ask for a gift card for your own birthday if you would like to purchase a portrait or an item from my Etsy shop for yourself.

Ten days before I am ready to commence your portrait I will contact you and send you an invoice for the balance of payment (the full cost of the portrait minus the deposit amount). I also offer payment by instalments with the final instalment being due before I commence your portrait. Please see my Terms and Conditions for further details relating to payments and shipping of your portrait.

Commissioning a portrait of your beloved pet is a special and very personal experience. I aim to make it a happy, relaxed and enjoyable experience and I am here to help you throughout. I love what I do and am privileged to speak to many wonderful people with whom I share a passion for our animal family members.

If you have any questions, please contact me- I am always happy to help and love to have a chat about our beautiful animal friends.

4. Finalising & shipping the portrait

Before I ship your portrait to you I will send you an email with a photo of your portrait for approval. If anything needs amending we will work closely together until you are happy with your portrait (please see Terms and Conditions for details). I will then ship your portrait to you.
